Half way....

Well we have officially just reached our half-way point of the school year. It has gone by so crazy fast! Our days and weeks are filling up so quickly and time is just passing us by.
Some highlights!
Christmas was well not the same. We had 1 turkey (or vegetable for me) dinner, and 1 Christmas brunch. On Christmas eve we went to our church for Christmas Carols around a campfire. Yes they had a huge fire on the Church compound, it was great! The carols were done in many different languages as the Church is made up of many different ethnic groups! It was so amazing to take part of it!

We then rung in my 25th Birthday!!! Nothing too exciting to mention there... except we had an amazing dinner at a Moroccan restaurant, I am still dreaming of it.

Then we welcomed Ruth (Brad's sister) who stayed with us for 2 weeks. It was so good to have family around during the Christmas season. While she was here we went to Dubai to celebrate New Year's here are some pictures

Here we are in front of the Burj Khalifa (the world's tallest buulding)

Fireworks at the Burj Khalifa! Amazing

There we are in the Armani exclusive New Years Eve Party... LONG STORY SHORT... we somehow made it through 3 different sets of security and into the party. NO we did not pay to enter, nor would we ever. We just wanted to see the Burj Khalifa, it was the only way we knew how. How did we manage to get in, we I am really not too sure, but we did. In the end the party was really quite boring and everyone was way too rich for their own good. So we left after a bit of try to explore the building.
(Picture above is us in the Burj Khalifa, Armani party, and this one is us on the grounds)

So that was New Years, since Ruth was still with us for another week, we decided to go to Bahrain for the next weekend. If you don't know where Bahrain is, well it's a small Island in the Gulf, and yes it is a country. Apparently it is know for it's pearls... but really for us we just wanted to see another place, and get away from Kuwait...

This is Island famous TREE OF LIFE... is apparently one of the oldest trees ever, just sitting in the middle of the desert. Is completely surrounded by oil field. There is also 'claims' that it is where the garden of Eden could of been LOL... Either way, kinda crazy that this tree survives in this given location, and for such a long time.

This is some crazy new housing development... We think that maybe it is military housing, not sure though.
More of the crazy housing and the intense colors...  I want to live in these houses.
Us outside of their Fort.

Well that is Bahrain. It was so good to get away, and see more of the region. We very much enjoyed having Ruth with us and getting to travel with her.

A few of Kuwait!

By the Kuwait Towers, and the Gulf

Having dinner at the Old souq... so tasty!

Well. That was the first two weeks of 2011, I'm very excited for the rest of the year!
First I need to focus on studying... I have a final exam this week, and well I guess procrastinating is not the best idea right now.

Hope all is well back in winter Canada... just to make everyone feel better... we no longer use our AC right now, and Brad even mentioned pulling out the heater!!! But I quickly turned that idea down LOL... The desert does cool off surprisingly.

Take Care,
Serena
